Friday musings......

It's Ox Cart Days in Crookston this weekend. When the kids were involved in some form or other I would attend the parade and other activities. I especially remember the lipsync contests and Ryan's participation, particularly the time he dressed up as a woman. Now I don't even go to the parade. There are so many opportunities for me to be involved as I am a member of the Lions and am on the United Way Board, both of which are activiely involved in the parade, etc. I'm kind of a dud sometimes. I will honestly enjoy being at home and getting things done rather than participating. Oh well!

We had a Bovbjerg (my mother's side) family reunion a couple of weeks ago. Last summer the Duus' (cousins), my siblings and I got together and decided that we should have a reunion. I volunteered to be the organizer as I enjoy doing that kind of stuff and have had experience with chairing conferences, in-services, etc. I have to admit that I really lost interest in the reunion after brother Danny died last November. Having him and his family at the reunion was key for me. But, when cruch time came this spring, I got busy and got things done. It was an awesome reunion with 112 family members there. Everything went without a hitch.......the food was good, the family variety show was incredible, the fellowship was awesome, and the faminly worship service was great! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The older I get the more I realize how important family is. I so enjoyed meeting all my cousins' kids!

The Christensen family has been quite sick with an ugly virus. Jessica got sick a week ago Thursday and she still has a temp. Brian got it last Sunday and Elysa on Monday. We had Elysa in to Urgent Care on Tuesday evening because Brian and Jessica were concerned that she had pneumonia. Fortunately, it hadn't escalated to that yet......she has bronchitis. It's a rough and long lasting virus and I'm praying that I don't get it. I've been pumping the Vitamin C for over a week now. I honestly think it works. Unfortunately for Dana and Nedra, they have certainly been exposed, as Ethan was here when Jessica and Brian got sick and Elysa had to have been getting sick when she was in Mankato. I met Dana and Nedra in Glenwood on Sunday to exchange kids. I asked the doctor if it was the H1N1 virus and he didn't think so as he hadn't heard of it being here yet. He said that it's s'pose to hit in late September and with a vengeance, the target population being children and young adults. They're predicting 400,000 deaths. Hopefully the Christensen's have built up somewhat of an immunity with what they have now. Anyway, I hate when my family is sick. Even though Jessica is a grown woman, she is still my little girl.

My cousin, Doug Duus, is stopping in next Tuesday on his way up to Canada for a vacation. That should be fun. He's the closest in age to me of all my cousins.

Well, I don't know if this is what a blog is all about, but I'm trying......Hopefully I'll continue to do better.

Following in my kids' footsteps.....

I can't believe that I'm doing this! I'm only going to give it a try, but am almost embarrassed to do so. My kids' blogs are so good and I thoroughly enjoy them. It looks kinda fun, so we'll see.......
